  • Squirt Championship Game overtime will be 3 on 3 plus goalies (similar to the NHL format), for 5 minutes running time. If a penalty is taken, the teams play 4 on 3.  If a 2nd penalty is taken before the first penalty expires, the on-ice strength will be 5 on 3. At no time will a team have fewer than 3 skaters on the ice during the OT period.  If still tied a shootout will follow with 5 shooters from each team. Mite Half-Ice Game Procedures
  • Format is 4 on 4 plus goaltender
  • 3 Minute Warm up - Game time will be (2) Two – 25 minute halves running time with a 90 second intermission
  • Buzzer every 2 minutes for line changes
  • Quick Faceoff at center ice after every Goal & 2-Minute Buzzer - Players do not need to be perfectly lined up. (Intent is to avoid unfair advantage or odd man break after a goal and to ensure goal is recorded properly and both teams are aware that a goal was scored)
  • Quick Faceoff to the side after each goaltender tie up. Faceoff should not burn too much time and players do not need to be perfectly lined up. (Intent is to avoid pile ups in front of goaltender and avoid unfair advantage or zone change as result of shot on goal).
  • Penalties will be called for blatant rule infractions that significantly affect play and for any rules violations that are dangerous in nature. Any player/team that is called for a penalty will serve the remainder of the current shift as well as the next 2 minute shift.
  • Due to two games going on simultaneously, there will be no time outs during any round
  • In the event of an injury requiring coaches assistance, both games should be stopped and the clock will stop until the injured player is moved from the ice.
Tie-Breaking Rules to Determine Standings Position

If two or more teams have an equal number of points, their position in the standings shall be determined by the following tie-breaking format. If one tie-breaker establishes a position for one or more teams, each team is placed in the applicable position. Once one or more teams are placed by a tie breakerany remaining tied teams shall start the tie-breaking process over again at step 1. (If all tied teams have not played each other, then proceed to step 2.) Note: a team may go into the tie-breaking process having defeated another of the tied teams and still not advance).

The tie-breaker formulas are as follows:

1. The results of the head-to-head games played between the tied teams in the following order:
a.  Most points.
b.  Most wins.
c.  Goal Differential
d.  Fewest Goals Against

2. If after applying the formulas of 1 a, b, c, d the tie still exists, the results of ALL the games played by the teams tied in the following order:
a.  Most Points
b.  Most Wins
c.  Goal Differential
d.  Fewest Goals Against

3.  If above procedure does not break the tie, a coin toss will be used.
